The Green Machines: Plants
Sorting out the plants: There are about 250,000 species of plants that live on Earth. They have a huge range of sizes, habitats and features. They are are known as Producers because they produce energy for our whole planet by carrying out Photosynthesis. They use energy from the sun to make energy rich chemicals which other organisms use as their energy sources. Without energy nothing can move, grow develop or reproduce. In other words, energy is needed for life on earth.
Producer organisms include algae, seaweeds, mosses, ferns and flowering plants.
